Have you guys heard about Kangu.org?
They are the first ever crowdfunding site to help women in developing countries have safe births. They make it possible – for as little as $10 – to fund a specific pregnant woman’s safe delivery services, so she and her baby survive and thrive. Thousands of people have come together to fund over 550 women in
Bolivia, Burundi, Guatemala, India, Mexico, Nepal and Uganda.
I fucking love this idea so I was trying to figure out a way to spread the word about this fantastic organization.
So I thought, “I know, I’ll have a few companies donate some cool stuff for a contest and all anyone would have to do to enter is share it which would then help spread the word about Kangu. Brilliant!”
My first stop was Diapers.com because they are really nice to work with and I figured they may be able to cough up something sweet like an Ergo. I explained my idea to them and they agreed that it was a great cause so not only did they offer up an Ergo 360, but added another two grand worth of stuff! WTF?! Good deed bonanza or what?!?
Here’s what you can win:
Maxi-Cosi Mico Max 30 Infant Car Seat: Not only is this one of the lightest infant car seats around, it’s super safe with its Air Protect Side Impact Protection and rebound bar. Plus, it’s easy to clean (thank God) and has a one-click LATCH system for easy installation. $249.99
Maxi-Cosi Maxi Taxi Car Seat Carrier: Just because the Mico Max is light doesn’t mean you want to carry it everywhere. Click your infant car seat onto this sucker and you’re ready to roll! $129.99
Maxi-Cosi Pria 85 Convertible Car Seat: I love this car seat. It has Side Impact Technology, a removable seat pad for cleaning, one-hand harness height and headrest adjustment, and One Click LATCH System for easy installation, just to name a few features. $299.99
Boon Flair Highchair: It glides smoothly in all directions with its castor wheels and won’t scratch the floor. It’s easy to clean so gunk doesn’t get stuck in weird nooks and crannies. Plus, it looks fancy as shit in your kitchen or dining room. I mean, c’mon. $279.99
Bumbo Transition Seat: This can be used as a floor seat or attached to a chair to be used as a booster seat, for feeding, playtime or on-the-go. The seat is perfect for use as soon as your child can sit unassisted, and accommodates most children with its removable foam pad (which would have been useful when my son had the 8-month old ham hock legs that wouldn’t fit in anything.) $44.99
Lightweight Travel Umbrella Stroller: This stroller weighs just under 14lbs! (I think my cat weighs 15.) It has a nice large canopy and a beefy basket to store all your stuff. It’s a pretty sweet ride – which is probably why it was rated one of the best umbrella strollers on Lucie’s List! $179.99
Weegoamigo Four Pack Muslin Swaddle: I love me a good swaddler and I LOVE the designs Weegoamigo has. They are 47” x 47” of 100% natural cotton muslin goodness that can be used as swaddler, floortime play rug, stroller cover, nursing shield, lightweight blanket, change mat, burp cloth and general crap and corruption catcher. $49.95
Weegoamigo Knitted Blanket: Who doesn’t love a cozy blanket? These outstanding blankets are made using a premium double layered knit blend of 30% bamboo rayon and 70% cotton, which provides plenty of stretch and an irresistibly soft texture. I would like a full unitard made from several of these. $79.95
Belly Bandit Upsie Belly: I don’t think you can fully appreciate one of these bands unless you’ve been pregnant. It just holds your front load up. Plus, you can turn the belt around and fasten it in the back so you can use a hot/cold pack after you’ve given birth. Belly bonus! $69.95
Belly Bandit Flawless Belly: This super soft band is designed to lock in any moisturizing you do on your bump – take that belly itch – and I would have loved the extended coverage. God I hated that updraft! It also protects your clothing from any products that you’re using to butter the bump! $49.95
Belly Bandit BDA LEGGING: The BDA stands for “Before, During and After”. I’m assuming they mean pregnancy but these would apply to the Mandarin Buffet for me. Either wear the leggings over your belly or roll the top accordingly for a snug and supportive fit at every stage (or dinner.) $44.95
Everly Grey Roxanne During & After 5-Piece Set: The set is comprised of a comfy, solid pull over tank with criss-cross bustline for easy nursing access, pull on pant with under-the-belly smocked waistband, 0-3 month baby gown with built in scratch mitts. You’ll be binge watching Gilmour Girls on Netflix at 3am in style!! $98
Storksak Noa Diaper Bag: Don’t let the simple, clean exterior fool you. The inside of this classic bag features include a changing mat, side insulated bottle pocket and interior pocket, and an outside pocket so you can access your valuables. The Noa also includes a handy mini-organizer bag, featuring six pockets and an internal compartment. A bag in a bag. Smart! $149.99
JJ Cole Outdoor Blanket 5′ x 5′: Outdoor blankets are worth their weight in gold (well, more than that because they don’t weigh much I suppose.) Lay it out at the park, the beach, and even sporting events – you’ll use this thing forever. Its durable outer fabric is ideal for any surface, and the inner lining quickly wipes clean. $34.95
JJ Cole Camber Diaper Bag: These guys make incredible diaper bags. They always seem to be able to strike a balance between big enough to hold all your crap, yet small enough so you don’t look like you’re catching a flight to Denver. It has ten pockets, three comfortable carrying options, a roomy main compartment, and comes with grips stroller attachments and a wipeable changing pad. $59.95
JJ Cole Changing Clutch: Convenient pocket holds wipes and multiple diapers and the slim design fits neatly in your diaper bag. It’s the parent clutch equivalent to holding your cell phone, lipstick and bail money. $19.95
JJ Cole Bottle Cooler: The JJ Cole Bottle Cooler keeps two extra-large bottles at the ideal temperature for hours. Or a bottle and a beer – I don’t judge. $17.95
Lamaze Rise and Shine Gym: These guys make amazing toys. Like amazing. Easily turn the handle to prop the gym up so baby can sit up and see around the room as they play with the activities in front of them. Or set it down for lay and play time. $79.99
Lamaze Night Night Owl: This guy is a color-changing nightlight that plays gentle melodies. Plus, my kids would have found his appearance soothing because he mimicked my post birth look – soft and fluffy with giant pleading “go to sleep” eyes. $20.99
Lamaze Rainbow Glow Rattle: Shake the flower rattle to see the rainbow bug light up. It’s a baby rave toy, man. Who wouldn’t love that shit? $16.89
Lamaze Franky the Hanky Whale: I recommend this guy all the time – he’s even on my BabyList registry. He is the toy equivalent of pulling tissues out of the box without the shredded disaster. He’s won a ton of awards. He rocks it like a pizza pocket. $24.99
Lamaze Freddie the Firefly Peek-a-Boo Book: A soft book with peekaboo flaps, crinkles, and bright colors that follows Freddie the Firefly around the garden. You go, Freddie! $13.29
Lamaze Freddie the Firefly: You read about Freddie in his heart-pounding novel (see above) so it makes sense to have this friendly guy in the flesh (or soft fabric.) He rocks a soft velour body and busy wings with peek-a-boo mirror, textures, squeaker, and crinkles. Also includes clinking rings, tethered ladybug teether and knotted antennae for chewing. Amazing toy. Best-selling novelist. You’re something special, Freddie. $12.99
