November babies have both a birthstone and a birth flower with beautiful golden hues to remind them of the gorgeous last days of fall. Regardless of the weather, November babies bring sunshine wherever they go, with their even temperament, fearless nature, and tendency to hit the hay earlier than babies born in other months of the year (a quality all tired parents can celebrate!) Babies born in November also tend to have strength, stamina and endurance that makes them natural-born competitors, so be prepared to cheer them on from an early age!

Birthstones:
Citrine is a yellow to red-orange member of the quartz family, and often is thought to be a symbol of healing and happiness. Citrine is also known to some as the “money stone” since some folks believe it’ll bring prosperity to anyone who wears it. This fiery-looking stone is often heated after it comes out of the ground in order to bring out the full beauty of its yellow and orange hues. In the 17th century, citrine was often used to jazz up the weapons of Scottish men, and in the 1920s, it was a popular stone in Victorian jewelry.
November's other birthstone, topaz, was believed by the Ancient Greeks to make its wearer invisible. In the Middle Ages, it was also ground up and mixed with wine to help folks fall asleep (honestly, the wine probably could have gotten the job done on its own, but no judgment here). These days, topaz is usually found on the outside of November babies' bodies rather than in their digestive system. The stone is actually colorless, but impurities cause it to take on almost any hue, though amber and yellows are most common. Topaz is believed to symbolize love and affection and to bring its wearer brains and brawn.
Birth Flower:
The name Chrysanthemum means “golden flower” in Greek, but don’t let that fool you. This autumn bloom, which often goes by the name “mum”, comes in a huge range of colors, including orange, burgundy, purple, white and red. Chrysanthemums are hugely popular in China and Japan, where they are considered to be a symbol of youth and perfection. In fact, Chrysanthemums are so revered in Japan that they have an entire day dedicated to them, known as the Festival of Happiness. Other symbols associated with Chrysanthemums are innocence, love, friendship, and honesty.
November Baby Milestones:
Start smiling: Most likely between January and February (6-12 weeks)
Start laughing: Probably by around March (4 months)
Start crawling: Probably between June and September (7-10 months)
Start walking: Likely by August to February of next year (9-15 months)
Fun Facts:
Here are a few fun facts about babies born in November. Do you think they ring true?
Early Snoozers
November babies might hit the hay earlier than other little ones. Some researchers suggest that people born in the fall and winter months tend to go to sleep and hit the midpoint of sleep slightly earlier than folks born in the spring and summer. Researchers suggest there may be a link between birth season and an individual’s circadian rhythm. (source)
Steady As She Goes
According to some studies, babies born in the fall may have more even and balanced emotions due to evolutionary nutrition. Historically, harvest season in the fall meant lots of nutrients for pregnant moms, which, in turn, led to healthy November babies. (source)
An Extra Special Valentine’s Day Gift
Maybe not surprisingly, a 2015 study found there was a 5% increase in conceptions in the week surrounding February 14th, resulting in some very special November births. Talk about the best Valentine’s Day gift ever! (source)
Born To Compete
Like their friends born in October, they’re born athletes. One study showed that babies born in October and November had better strength, stamina and cardiovascular fitness than babies born in other months. It’s thought that this could be thanks to the vitamin D they were exposed to in-utero, which leads to stronger bones and muscles down the road. (source)
